Neal Crosbie
ArtistÕs Statement
Nothing catches what IÕm
about as an artist quite so quintessentially as the following
bio-note from the current
issue of Tricycle Magazine.

The final touch of whimsy
above is an essential part of the personality of my work, which
ranges from large paintings
on canvas to miniscule flights of fancy on paper always with the iconic figure
morphing in a multitude of ways.
The special claim these works
can make has to do with the combination of poetic effect, often playful,
plunging toward koanic recognitions.
For
instance a recent painting mimicking U.S. currency uses the word OM in its balancing
seals,
the heraldic coyote figure as its central cartouche, with the words ÒPause
BlissfullyÓ
Girls
and RiversÓ, below and incidental representations of Mt. Yellow and Flying Pine
Tree.
In
the lower left corner next to a rising sunflower we find the final notation,
ÒPartake VastlyÓ.
